Norse Warriors (Scouts & Venturers) Navigate Through Akelaland With Troop 38 In The Lead

The adventure begins at 8 AM on the 6th day of

February, 2016 and concludes at 6 PM of the same day.

(This will be a one day event.  If inclement weather makes travel unsafe, the event will be held on Sunday, February 7^th.)

Check in on Friday 2/5 must be complete by 8:30PM

Check in on Saturday 2/6 must be complete by 9:00AM

Load your supplies and set sail to the new land!  Use your skills to earn the honor to stand at Thor’s side.  But beware…Loki may try to sabotage you!

Forks Klondike Derby 2016 Information Packet

Supplement to 2016 Klondike Registration Packet

• All cabins have been reserved.  Tent camping is still available.  No extra cost.
• To complete the fire building station (Mighty Thor), each patrol will need to boil water.
• There will be 2 Viking/Norse trivia questions at each station.  They will be worth 2 points each and are bonuses!  Learn names, places, accomplishments, dates, daily life, etc.
• In order to complete all stations, plan on spending no more than 30 minutes at each station.
• There will be Pennsylvania animals, and perhaps sea creatures and Norse mythological creatures at the Norse Path station.
• There may be Viking artifacts at Odin’s game.
• Greenland skiing will be all about teamwork. Three to four scouts or venturers will share one set of skis.
• Try to keep in the theme…dress like Vikings, act like Vikings (but stay within BSA guidelines), decorate your sled to look like a Viking ship.
