EVENT:

This is a (HAM) Amateur Radio based scouting event centered around the annual Jamboree-On-The-Air (JOTA), sponsored by the World Scouting movement. The event is OUTDOORS UNDER CANOPIES, RAIN or SHINE, WITH SOCIAL DISTANCING, WEARING MASKS IN EFFECT AND SMALL GROUP ACTIVITIES IN EFFECT.  Per Minsi Trails policy, we will not have access to the Dining Hall interior or the Shower House bathrooms.  Port-a-pots behind the Dining Hall and the Site 11 - Sacagawea comfort station (with flush toilet) behind the shower house, will be available.

COST:

$8.00 per participant.  You will receive a event-themed mask (in lieu of a patch) and a pair of disposable gloves.  It will be open to Cub Scouts, Webelos, Scouts BSA, Venturers, Explorers and Sea Scouts.

WHAT TO BRING:

Participants should bring the appropriate outdoor clothing for the weather, face mask, ample water and lunch/snack.

LOCATION:

Camp Minsi is located at 106 Camp Minsi Road, in Pocono Summit, PA, on PA 940 across from the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Station.  From I-80, take I-380 north.  At the first exit, Exit #3, take PA 940 West for 1.5 miles.

SIGN-UP DEADLINE:

October 1st.  There will be a limit of 150 participants to ensure we have small group activities.  Late registrations, past October 1st, are not guaranteed the souvenir mask.

ANTICIPATED ACTIVITIES:

1. Jamboree-On-The-Air.  JOTA is the world’s largest digital Scout event taking place online and over the air.  The educational event brings together more than 2-million Scouts every year in October for Scouting fun and friendship.  Young people can learn about communications technology and connect with fellow Scouts from over 170 countries.  See http://jotajoti.info for more details.

2.  Moon Bounce.  Yep, bouncing radio waves off the moon.

3.  Satellite Tracker.  Let's up the folks "up there" swing by camp in the space station.

4.  Fox Hunt.  Can you track "the fox" (device emitting an electronic "beep") through the woods?
