Boy Scouts is an outdoor program designed to develop character, citizenship, leadership, and fitness for young men ages 11 through 17. Scouting helps a boy develop into a well-rounded young man.
In addition to outdoor adventure and new experiences, Boy Scouting encourages boys to develop a strong character and lasting leadership skills. The Boy Scouting program is designed to help boys transition into responsible young men through leadership positions in the Troop and rank advancements that they themselves are responsible for. As a Scout continues to grow, he slowly takes on additional leadership roles within the Troop. One of the main goals of the Boy Scout program is to maintain a "Boy-Lead" Troop, where older Scouts are both teacher and role model to younger Scouts. These leadership skills are widely recognized and can benefit a Scout throughout his entire life. The Eagle Scout Award, the highest rank in Scouting, is recognized world wide and symbolizes the ideals that Scouting strives to provide.
