Info Sessions for Unit Leaders and Unit Scouts

Overall Details

This opportunity is simple and very easy to coordinate.  Here are the key elements of the Unit Spring Snack Sale:

  • Open to Minsi Trails Council Scouting Units. 
  • Promotion and placing orders. 
    • Promote the Sale Sheet of products to your local Family and Friends and direct them to the online ordering site to place their order and pay online. No Direct Customer Shipping available.    
    • Unit collects no money.  
  • Unit earns a 20% sale commission on orders.
    • Each order that is properly identified with the unit will be apart of the overall units commission.   
  • Unit picks of the bulk orders at the Minsi Trails Council Office, along with order receipts and delivers the product back to their customers.

Timeline

  • Monday April 26, Online Sale Ordering System Opens
  • Friday June 4, Online Sale Ordering System Closes
  • Monday June 21, 20% Unit commission deposited into the Council Unit custodial account.
  • Tuesday June 22 thru Friday June 25, all orders to be picked up at Council Office by the Unit, followed by unit delivering product to his or her customers. 
    • Week Day 9 am to 4:30 pm
    • Saturday 9 am to noon (email Paul for appointment paul.oswald@scouting.org )

"How to" Steps

Step 1 - Alert Scouts and Scouting Families of the Unit Snack Sale opportunity! 

We ask unit leaders and existing Scouting Families to spread the word of this great opportunity to their unit.  

Step 2 - Unit Commitment!

This opportunity is owned by the unit. The unit drives the promotion, drives the sales, and drives the potential earnings.   

Step 3 - Develop a Unit Selling Plan and Sales Goal!  

Scouts working with Unit Leadership, along with parents and guardians, determine how to best promote the sale to local family and friends who will enjoy the Snack Sale products and willing to help support the unit. 

  • Use emails to promote directly to local Family and Friends.
  • Print out the product sale sheet and leave on neighbors doors or hand deliver.  
  • Use unit or personal Social Media pages to promote locally to Family and Friends.

  • Exclusive products listed with retail cost and quantity. 

Step 5 - Understanding Ordering Process

Very Important - All orders must accompany information about the Unit/Scout - this is a requirement within the ordering system for each purchase:  Scouts First Initial/Last Name, Unit Type, Unit #, and County. 

  • All orders are done through the online ordering site at www.minsitrails.org/snacksale  No other exceptions! 
  • All orders MUST identify the Unit/Scout.  
    • This will connect the customer to the Unit/Scout.
    • This will determine which unit earns the sale commission on the order.
    • This will allow initial bulk sorting of product for unit pick-up at Council after sale ends.   
  • All orders are paid online by the product purchaser.  No money will be collected outside of the online ordering system.
  • Purchase receipts will be emailed to the customer directly after the order is placed. 
    • Within the receipt will be the customers name, address, phone number, email address, product ordered, and payment confirmation.
    • In addition, within the receipt will be a message alerting when the product will be delivered. Here is what is written in the receipt: All product will be delivered to each customer during the week of June 21 - June 26, or shortly thereafter by the Scouting Unit. 
  • No Direct customer shipping available.   

Step 6 - Online Sales Reports

  • Each Friday after 1:00 pm during the sale, a sales report will be posted online for Unit view and sales tracking. Report will be password protected, email paul.oswald@scouting.org to secure password.  

Step 7 - Distribution of Product to the Product Purchaser

  • During the week of Tuesday June 22 thru Saturday June 26, all units will conveniently pick up their orders at the Minsi Trails Council Office.
    • Week Day Monday - Friday 9 am to 4:30 pm,
    • Saturday 9 am to noon by appointment only. 
  • Orders will be sorted in bulk by Unit.  Separate order receipts will be provided to the unit for each placed order. 
  • Units will be responsible for deliver of the product back to their customers .  

Step 8 - Support / Help

A Quick Summary

  • Unit promotes and encourages Scout participation.   
  • Local Family and Friends use the online link; order and pay for their product all on line. 
  • Unit picks up bulk orders at Council office in Allentown.
  • Unit and Scouts deliver orders to their customers. 
  • Unit earns commissions.
