Scouting America – Minsi Trails Council

Make a Difference in the Lives of Youth

Minsi Trails Council is seeking enthusiastic and dependable individuals to serve as Program Specialists supporting Scouting programs in the Allentown and Bethlehem areas. Program Specialists work directly with youth in school and community-based programs to deliver engaging activities that promote leadership, citizenship, teamwork, character development, and life skills.

This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with youth and want to positively impact their local community through mentoring and hands-on program delivery.

Position Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate weekly Scouting meetings and activities at assigned program sites in Allentown and Bethlehem
• Deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities using provided lesson plans and program materials
• Build positive relationships with youth, families, schools, and community partners
• Track attendance, participation, and advancement records
• Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants
• Support recruitment and retention efforts for youth participants
• Assist with special events, outdoor activities, and other council programs as needed
• Attend required trainings and staff meetings

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must be able to obtain required Pennsylvania clearances
• Must successfully pass a criminal background check
• Reliable transportation is required
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be dependable, organized, and proactive
• Experience working with youth is preferred
• Scouting experience is helpful but not required
• Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply

Hours & Schedule

• Part-time position with a maximum of 20 hours per week
• Programs primarily operate Monday through Friday during the afternoon and evening hours
• Typical program times occur between 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM
• Hours include program delivery time, plus 30 minutes for setup and 30 minutes for cleanup at each assigned site
• Occasional weekend events or trainings may be required

Compensation

• $15 to $20 per hour based on experience
• Paid training provided
• Opportunities for additional program hours and seasonal work may be available
